Genetically Engineered Salmon to be Sold as Food?
In a first-in-the-world move, the U.S. has allowed genetically engineered salmon to be sold as food. This salmon, combining the genes from three different types of fish, would compete with their wild counterparts for food and space, possibly interbreed, cause new diseases, change basic food webs and upset ecosystem processes.
