Drought Hit Laos Prays for Rain with Rockets and Phalluses
Laos, where 23 percent of population live below the poverty line, has been hit by severe drought this year. Farmers now are prodding the gods into sending them rain by launching homemade rockets into the sky, and men dressed in female clothing wielding large wooden phalluses dance, while others lubricated by rice whiskey simply roll in the mud.
