Domestic Violence Act Does Not Apply to Divorced Women: HC
The Punjab and Haryana high court has held that a divorced woman cannot file a complaint under Protection of Women from Domestic Violence Act, 2005. The judge ruled that the provisions under the Act could only be invoked during a domestic relationship, where two persons live or lived together in a shared household and are related by marriage.
