Hong Kong Steps Up Move for Elephant Conservation

Every year, around 30,000 elephants are killed in Africa for their tusks to satisfy the needs of Asian market. Hong Kong is a key part of this trade as a major transit and retail hub and sells more ivory than any other world city. In a landmark move for elephant conservation, the government of Hong Kong is actively exploring phasing out domestic ivory trade.
