The blackpoll warbler, a songbird weighing less than two AA batteries, makes one of the most extraordinary migrations in the animal kingdom. It flies nonstop across the Atlantic Ocean during its southerly fall migration, covering more than 1,500 miles in two or three days. It’s outdone only another bird twice its weight, the Northern Wheatear.
