Researchers from Stanford University have synthesized a polymer that can be stretched, heal itself, and respond to an electric field. This could lead to artificial skin and muscle that can be used on the prosthetic limb to regain sense of touch, in wearable electronics, or in medical implants that would last without being repaired or replaced.
