Bubbling tobacco smoke through water before inhaling it does not “clean” it, according to a new study in the American Journal of Respiratory and Critical Care Medicine. The tobacco smoke treated in this manner still contains the deadly toxicants found in cigarette smoke that could cause cough and other abnormalities in the lungs in hookah users.
