Gillnets Push World's Smallest Porpoise towards Extinction

With just 60 of Mexico’s vaquita marina left, the smallest porpoise is close to extinction, warned environmentalists. Despite the navy enforcing a ban on fishing gillnets, poachers use illegal gillnets to catch totoaba, another critically endangered fish caught for its swim bladder, and the vaquita is believed to be the victim of bycatch.
