New Zealanders Support Creation of Kermadec Ocean Sanctuary

A poll by WWF reveals close to 90 percent of New Zealand residents want to see the ecologically important Kermadec region protected. The proposed sanctuary covers 620,000 sq km of ocean in an area about 1000 km north-east of New Zealand. The Kermadec Islands and the surrounding oceans are well known for its biodiversity and geodiversity hotspots.
