Taiwan's Recycling Systems Are One of the Best in the World
Once known as Garbage Island, Taiwan now has an impressive recycling rate of 55%. Taipei has about 4,000 pickup spots five nights a week, with mobile apps that let users track the trucks and alert them whenever a garbage truck is nearby. Garbage policies violation is met with fines or public humiliation, and video cameras catch violators.
