During hydraulic fracturing, or fracking, to retrieve oil and natural gas, toxins like arsenic, cadmium, and lead are used. There are environmental and public health problems, from increased infant mortality and low birth weight babies to the release of cancer-causing radioactive gas and methane, contamination of drinking water and earthquakes.
