Researchers are witnessing the spread of a chronic kidney disease of non-traditional cause, in farmers in Nicaragua and rural India. Although there is still uncertainty about the causes, heat stress and recurrent dehydration are likely factors. In advanced stages, people with with such type of kidney disease require dialysis every week to survive.
