Ban of Cancer-causing Ingredient in Bread Delayed 4 years
It has been revealed that the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India (FSSAI) had decided to ban Potassium Bromate as a food additive four years ago but never implemented its decision. Potassium Bromate, which makes bread rise, was found in 85% of bread and bakery samples tested in Delhi; and is known to cause various types of cancer.
